About Location Surveys
Surveys based on location gather information from participants according to where they are physically situated. There are many different types of surveys that use location-based information. Some examples include:
-
Natural Shopper: These surveys use GPS technology to target participants in a specific location. As an example, the survey team may send a survey to consumers who are attending a specific event or located in a certain geographical area. We don't give out a list of stores beforehand because our clients want the surveys to be taken by "natural shoppers" who visit a store without knowing that a study is available.
-
Missions: Participants are requested to use their mobile devices to check in at a designated location for these surveys. Typically, these studies are conducted in several stages, including Invite, Instructions, Main (location-based), and At-Home final phases.
And last but not least, remember to keep your Location Services ON to qualify for these exciting studies!
Survey experience with Location Surveys
1. Natural Shopper
Usually, you will receive these surveys either upon entering one of the qualifying locations or upon leaving it.
After our GPS system locates you, we will send a survey invitation to your phone through a push notification.
You don't need WiFi to complete these surveys, but if the place where you're taking the survey offers free WiFi, we suggest using it to ensure a strong connection. I
f you were given a survey while inside the store, please ensure that you only fill it out while at the eligible location.
And if you received a push notification after leaving a location, we suggest that you take action promptly, as the survey may have a limited time frame and could expire.
If you attempt to enter these studies after the expiration time, you will receive an error message stating, "Sorry, you do not have permission to start this survey."
2. Missions
The introduction of these surveys will state that they are multi-phase opportunities.
- Invite phase
You will receive the survey instructions either in the Screener/Invite survey or in a separate Instructions survey at a later time. To have access to them in the future, please take a screenshot of the instructions.
- Instructions phase
After reviewing instructions for the upcoming Mission, you may need to see the map of the qualifying locations for the study. For this, tap the "View Participating Locations" tab to see eligible locations. Please make sure to stick to the locations marked on the survey map. Visiting other locations is not permitted.
If there are faraway locations on the map, it's because nearby locations filled up quickly and were removed. This may explain why you only see locations far from you or none at all.
- In-Store (location) phase
After arriving at a qualifying location, the "Updating Location" button will turn into "Start Survey". Wait 5-10 minutes for the survey notification. Complete the study while still at the location and with a strong cellular signal/GPS connection.
We recommend participating in these surveys as soon as you can because spots tend to fill up quickly. Please note that once we reach the desired number of responses, the survey will no longer be available.
If you encounter any problems during your visit to the qualifying location, please reach out to us for assistance. You can do so by accessing the Support section in your Profile tab or by emailing us at support@surveysonthego.net.
To ensure a prompt response, please provide the following details in your support request: the name of the survey, the survey incentive, the precise address of the location you visited, and a photo of the product and receipt (if you were required to purchase a product during the research).
